I keep seeing fake deep posts about how yall not goin vote and like, we need to start having actual conversations and spread correct and factual information about how our political system in the US works. Cause theres several concrete reasons we can fight against as to why political corruption is so high, mainly the case Citizens United V. FEC which the Supreme Court ruled, stating that large donations from corporate lobbying groups and firms as well as unions are protected under the free speech clause of the 1st amendment. Most of y'all dont know that, and if young people went out to vote, and voted for candidates that represent us, rather than letting incumbents win, again and again and again, we could have politicians who rally against this. There are candidates out there who are refusing and have always refused to take big donor money. You just have to do your research and help campaign for them. Theres already been genuinely progressive candidates ousting establishment democrats in shocking victories, because of young people, most notably Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s win. When Cynthia Nixon was running against Cuomo in New York, so many people said they agreed with Cynthia Nixon’s policies, but thought she was inexperienced, and hence, she lost the primary to corrupt corporate Cuomo, whose money comes from places such as Real Estate groups, which means he is enabling gentrification. How long are we gonna be afraid of the change we need? These institutions need to be remade from the ground up and it ain’t happening with y'all sitting on your asses. So lets go and VOTE.
